Over 9,000 City of New York employees are currently on Leave Without Pay and another 12,000 have appeals in to avoid vaccination for religious or other reasons - and roughly 25,000 only got vaccinated over threat of being fired
There's also all the workers who got vaccinated voluntarily (myself included) who want the $600 bucks that the workers who waited til the last minute to take the shot recieved
It is a big deal here - the biggest labor controversy among municipal workers here in a very long time
I think I'm in the Armour-Globe at Abbott Northwestern! It wasn't just expanding, it was organizing from nothing--I know because I'm one of the people who started it!! We are medical laboratory workers, there's about 220 of us in 3 education levels, and because we work at the hospital but our location is across the street (attached by skyway and pneumatic tubes) they changed it from joining existing members in each education level to being in our own separate group all together across education levels. The vote starts this week, I expect to get my ballot in the mail today!
